(10) A considerable number of people have the impression that a venerable Buddhist votary should stay indoors all day and do nothing but perusing Buddhist Scriptures. I am afraid I cannot bring myself to concur with such an impression, because I am of the opinion that while having to devoutly address himself to self-cultivation, a Buddhist votary has to do everything in his power to help improve the conditions in which more and more Buddhist votaries can carry on, with ease, their self-cultivation programs.
