On September 16, 2023, a group of the China International Development Cooperation Agency led by deputy director Deng Qingbo joined hands with Ghanaian and Ugandan ambassadors in China, representatives of the Bulgarian Embassy in China, the United Nations Development System and the UN Refugee Agency and other international organizations in China, visited Shaolin Temple, watching Shaolin Kungfu performances and communicating and interacting with Shaolin monks.

Abbot Shi Yongxin and Shaolin monks welcomed the delegation in front of the Gateway and accompanied guests to visit the Shaolin Temple permanent residence compound at 3 o’ clock on the afternoon that day. Abbot Yongxin introduced Shaolin Temple’ s historical evolution, architecture, ancient stone steles and so on meanwhile explaining the temple’ s historical development of 1, 500 years and achievements gained in recent years. Abbot Yongxin said Shaolin Temple itself is the product of sino-foreign cultural exchanges. Since Buddhism was introduced to China, Shaolin Temple has absorbed traditional Chinese culture, developing Shaolin culture with Chan, Wu, Yi (medicine), Yi(arts) as one on the base of traditional Buddhism.

Abbot Yongxin communicated with representatives joyfully at the Abbot Hall. He described his experiences of cultural exchanges abroad, initiated dialogues and communication with different countries, religions and ethnics, and shared healthy Shaolin lifestyle committed to world peace and human happiness.
