As friendly neighbors separated by a narrow strip of water, contacts between Buddhists circles of China and South Korea have never been interrupted. Recently, many delegations from South Korea got to Shaolin Temple for visit and exchange, writing a good story between Buddhist circles of both countries.
On May 25, under the leadership of Yanhe, abbot of the Longhua Temple in Gangwon, South Korea, a Buddhist delegation of 21 people from South Korea to Shaolin Temple for visit, traced the origin of Chan Buddhism, joyfully talked with abbot Shi Yongxin of Shaolin Temple, and separately asked for conferring the Bodhisattva Precepts and the Three Refuges and Five Commandments.

A delegation of 19 people from Ulsan Metropolitan City, South Korea, visited Shaolin Temple under the leadership of Mayor Jin Douqian on May 26. Mayor Jin Douqian expressed his respect to abbot Shi Yongxin, praised Shaolin Temple’ s contributions to friendship between China and South Korea, and also warmly invited abbot Yongxin to Ulsan Metropolitan City for visit in October this year.
