Master Daoqian travelled with his friend Zongyuan. Due to the fatigue of the journey, Zongyuan cried for return over and over again.
Master Daoqian comforted him, "Since that we are resolute for cultivation and we have walked for such a long way, it is really a pity if we give up halfway. How about this? From now on, I will do everything I can do for you except for five things."
"What are they?" asked Zongyuan.
Daoqian said in a very natural way, "Dressing, eating, crapping, peeing, walking."
Daoqian's remarks finally led to Zongyuan's enlightenment, and he never complained of the toilsomeness thereafter.
