A Buddhist believer said to Chan master Moxian, "My wife is extremely mean. She will offer nothing even for a good event. Can you come to my home and enlighten my wife to make her do some good deeds?"

Master Moxian promised that.

When master Moxian went to the believer's home, his wife come out to meet him, but she was reluctant to offer a single cup of tea to the master. Then master Moxian said to her, holding a fist, "Madam, look at my hand, it is like this all the time. How do you think about it?"

"If it is always in such a shape, it is abnormal!"

"Yes!” Then master Moxian spread his hand, asked her, "What about this?"

"It is also an abnormality!"

Master Moxian said at once, "Absolutely, madam. They are both abnormalities. It is abnormal that you only saves money without offering; it is also abnormal that if you only spend without saving. Money should be circulated.

With the enlightenment of master Moxian, the believer's wife became quite clear about using money and dealing with people and affairs.
