Do not address a venerable master by name. Inquire about the venerable master’s Buddhist name by saying “May I know your Dharma name?” It is inappropriate to use the Dharma name directly, but the titles “Venerable”, "Master”, "Venerable Master” or “Elder” should be added to it. Refer to oneself as "student” or “disciple” instead of “I” before a venerable master.
