Shaolin Temple hosted the grand unveiling ceremony of the Shaolin Incense Hall on May 2, 2009. The Shaolin Incense Hall, near the Meditation Hall, is located on the east side of Shaolin Temple, on the opposite side of the Guest Hall. Abbot Shi Yongxin of Shaolin Temple said Shaolin Temple restored the Shaolin Incense Hall to inherit and carry forward Chinese incense culture and Shaolin Chan incense culture as well as promote excellent traditional Chinese culture.

In the development of Shaolin Temple with a history of more than 1500 years, Shaolin Chan incense embodies the essence of Shaolin Chan Wu culture, brings together features of traditional Chinese herbal incense and forms unique cultural connotations with Shaolin characteristics.
