On the morning of August 13, 2013, the first Chinese Chan Go Congress & the Shaolin Black and White Challenge was held at the Abbot Hall of Shaolin Temple as scheduled.
Chen Yang won the title in the fourth Black and White Go Open through one-day challenge on the evening of August 12. Chen Yang challenged Masaki Takemiya, a 9-dan player of the Japanese Go Institute at the Abbot Hall of Shaolin Temple. The Great Monk Shi Yongxin, abbot of Shaolin Temple, Wang Runan and Nie Weiping, honorary presidents of the Chinese Weiqi Institute, and present president Chang Hao, watched the competition together on the morning of August 13.
Chen Yang won Masaki Takemiya over two hours’ struggling, getting the golden medal. During the time, the Great Monk Shi Yongxin, Honorary president Wang Runan and present president Chang Hao respectively presented awards to the first 8 players of the Shaolin Black and White Go Final.
Meanwhile, the Go Forum of the first Chinese Chan Go Congress was successfully held at the Enlightenment Hall of Shaolin Temple where experts and scholars in Go culture from across the country got together to express, share and exchange their ideas or points of view around Go culture and the development in the future.
The Trio League Final of the Xueyin Xinzhu Cup will also be held at the Second-Master Nunnery from 9:30 to 11:30 on the morning of the day. So far, the first Chinese Go Congress has been completed successfully in Shaolin Temple. (Edited by Zou Xiang and photographed by Wang Haitao, Gong Wuwei)
