The 1st day of the first lunar month every year is not only the traditional Chinese festival but also the birthday of Maitreya Buddha.

Shaolin Temple hosted the solemn sacrifice-offering prayer assembly on Feb. 1 in 2022 or the 1st day of the first lunar month to pray for all sentient beings’ good luck, freedom, security and happiness. The assembly was presided over by Shi Yongxin, abbot of Shaolin Temple.

As an image representative of all Buddhas and Bodhisattva, Maitreya Buddha not only makes us have great reverence for him. What’ s more, it also stands for compassion, enduring contempt, tolerance and optimism.
