The UK Shaolin Xiu Centre hosted the sutra chanting prayer under the organization and guidance to celebrate the Buddha’ s Birthday on May 23, 2021. The assembly and related activities were conducted from 10 am to 5 pm when there were more than one hundred people present. The assembly was presided over by master Jingtong, master Guangde and master Yuanzhou.

Students from the UK Shaolin Xiu Centre and local believers gathered together to listen to the origin, significance and site of the Buddha’ s Birthday the masters explained at the assembly for Buddha’s Birthday. Everyone devoutly chanted sutra, worshiped Buddha and prayed for world peace, people’ s happiness, elimination of the epidemic and good weather for the crops. Then masters and believers joyfully bathed the Buddha statue.

During the period, Yanxiu gave abbot Shi Yongxin’ regards to everyone and hoped all believers could continue to support and protect Shaolin culture, making the unique life concept of Shaolin Temple service more local people. (Edited by Zou Xiang and pictures from the UK Shaolin Xiu Centre)
