(49) Samsara epitomizes the six kinds of destiny a sentient being might experience. Some Buddhist Scriptures contain very graphic and detailed descriptions of what samsara looks like. Such descriptions are undeniably metaphorical, rather than realistic, and virtually didactic, rather than informative. Unfortunately a considerable number of people take quite a fancy to reading much of their own wild reverie into those descriptions, presuming that there is really another material world than that we now live in. I can assure you that all the samsara is in, rather than beyond, our mind. That is why in Avatamsaka Sutra is set forth the axiom that “it is only proper to affirm that there is no existence or form in the cosmos but is created by human mind”.
