The afterheat of the ‘World Shaolin Kungfu Games 2023’ in Latin America was still remained while the ‘Kungfu Tide’ reappeared in April, 2024. Vice president Qiu Xiaoqi of the China Public Diplomatic Association led the delegation to Honduras,  El Salvador and Mexico to conduct a series of public diplomatic activities from April 8 to 18. China Songshan Shaolin Temple, invited by the China’ s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specially sent four Kungfu monks for visit with the delegation, promoting great power diplomacy and boosting traditional fine Chinese culture ‘outgoing the world’.

‘Kungfu’ Building the Friendship Bridge by Visiting Three Countries

 

Under the leadership of vice president Qiu Xiaoqi, the delegation separately launched conversation featured with ‘Promoting People-to-people Bond and the development of the bilateral and Sino-Latin America Relations’ with politicians, senators, media and others from Honduras,  El Salvador and Mexico. The present guests from all countries heaped praise on the development status of the bilateral relations, with full of confidence that China would further consolidate diplomatic relations, enhance mutual trust, and strengthen cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

 

The Chan Wu performance of Shaolin Kungfu undoubtedly became the lightspot and fusion agent that the world knows about China and understands Chinese culture.

During the time, Salvadorean president Nayib Bukele speacially received the delegation in his spare time and watched the Shaolin Kungfu performance. According to field personnel recollection, the president dressed simply, interacted with Shaolin Kungfu monks like friends and also expressed on the spot that Shaolin Kungfu touched him and was so amazing, especially their diamond spirit as well as their ways and movements “make me feel the building shaken in a moment and let the dim room full of masculinity.”

Salvadorean foreign minister Ms Hill braved the sweltering heat to communicate with Shaolin Kungfu monks outdoor joyfully. During the Kungfu performance, Ms Hill held her hands, her eyes were filled tears and said: ‘It’ s the first time for me to watch Shaolin Kungfu closely which makes me burst into tears spontaneously.”


In addition, Shaolin Kungfu monks and the local martial arts group jointly performed Chinese Kungfu to show Shaolin Chan Wu culture in the ‘China Day’ event held by the association and the Chinese Embassy in Mexico.

In Honduras, foreign minister Eduardo Enrique Reina received the delegation in person, communicating and taking group photos with Shaolin Kungfu monks.
