The Austrian Culture Week 2019 Held Successfully

The annual Austrian Shaolin Culture Week was held successfully in the Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center from June 3 to 8, 2019. The daily activities were rich and colorful, covering Shaolin Chan cultivation, Shaolin Kungfu, Soft Boxing, Shaolin Health-keeping Qigong, calligraphy, physical therapy of Chan medicine, prayer assembly, Chan medicine lectures, Chan cultivation lectures, Shaolin photo exhibition, Shaolin films and television programs and feature programme appreciation, traditional Chinese culture exhibition and so on. There were a few hundred people experiencing traditional Chinese culture and Shaolin culture each day, receiving good graces and being highly praised by local people.





Some Shaolin lovers from Germany, Italy and Austria specialized to take some time to participate in the Shaolin Culture Week during the event. They excitedly said this was their most pleasant and best benefit holiday.

At the closing ceremony of Austrian Shaolin Culture Center on June 8, Master Yanliang, head of the Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center, Yang Dazhu, Deputy Director General of Austria International Atomic Energy Agency, Gerhard Weissgrab, president of the Buddhist Association of Austria, Heinz Vettermann, secretary-general of the Buddhist Association of Austria, Peter Neuwirth, deputy head of Vienna’s Fifth District government, Dr. Chen Shangwei, president of Austrian Chinese Association of Retired Persons, Wang Yingshen, headmaster of Slovakian martial art school, Qin Zhen, coach deployed in the Czech Republic from Beijing Sport University, Shaolin lay Buddhists Yanlang and Lu Jianyuan and so on attended the event.

The closing event kicked off from a solemn prayer assembly presided over by Master Yanliang. All masters and students from Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center and guests prayed for world peace, social harmony, people living a happy and prosperous life and well-being. Aftr the end of the prayer, Master Yanliang delivered a speech. He represented the great monk Shi Yongxin, abbot of Shaolin Temple, to extend a warm welcome to people and sincere thanks to the Buddhist Association of Austria, municipal government, district government, the Chinese Embassy in Austria, U.N. Association of China, Austrian Chinese Association of Retired Persons, associations of overseas Chinese and students of Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center. He still expressed that they would continue to host the Shaolin Culture Week next year.





Then Gerhard Weissgrab, president of the Buddhist Association of Austria, Yang Dazhu, Deputy Director General of Austria International Atomic Energy Agency, and Peter Neuwirth, deputy head of Vienna’s Fifth District made a speech respectively. They were grateful to Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center’s invitation, highly appreciating that Shaolin Culture Week benefited the local people, enriched their spare time and improved their mental and physical health. It was hoped that the event will be better and better.










Masters and students from Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center performed colorful Shaolin Kungfu during the event. Coach Qin Zhen from the Czech Republic displayed martial arts. The dance team from the Austrian Chinese association of retired persons showcased cheongsam dance, fan dance, yangko dance and other programs. Wonderful activities won applause and cheers from audience. After the end of the performance, Master Yanmian from Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau delivered a speech on Shaolin Chan medicine and regimen, sparing Shaolin Chan medicine culture with people together.



Shaolin Culture Week is a cultural event co-hosted by Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center and Vienna municipal government and Vienna’s fifth district government,the location of its cultural department. The Shaolin Culture Week activities are held every year to make it easy for Shaolin culture lovers and traditional Chinese culture lovers’ participation and experience. Experiencing Shaolin Temple’s healthy lifestyle and integrate harmony of life ideas find a residence to berth body and mind, building a healthy, happy life.

The great monk Yongxin, abbot of Shaolin Temple, sends Buddhist doctors of Shaolin Pharmacy Bureau to cultural center for free clinics and support since Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center was built. Master Yanliang said that Austrian Shaolin Cultural Center would teach Shaolin Health-keeping Qigong, Shaolin soft boxing and Shaolin Kungfu at the park nearby the cultural center from 7am to 8am on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday since April 1, helping benefit people’s physical and mental health.
