Millennial Shaolin Temple in the magnificent Songshan Mountains, is the ancestral monastery of Chan sect, and the origin of Vinaya school. Buddhist monks ultimate death and life, sever afflictions and benefit sentient beings. Buddhist dharma is permanent, within the three practices of morality, meditation and wisdom.

China Songshan Shaolin Temple was originally built in Taihe 19 years (495) of the Northern Wei Dynasty. Buddhabhadra initiated it and Patriarch Bodhidharma came from the west. Shaolin Temple that produced a wealth of eminent monks and holy ones, is the ancestral monastery of Chan sect and birthplace of Vinaya sect, the national key cultural relic preservation unit and the world cultural heritage. 

Approved by the Buddhist Association of China, hosted by the Buddhist Association of Henan Province and undertaken by Shaolin Temple, the Three Grand Platforms Precept Transmission Ceremony in China Songshan Shaolin Temple was launched on April 5 in 2023 ( the 15th day of the second leap month in Guimao Year). More than 400 newly-precepted monastics from home and abroad would spend their one-month session to study precepts, Buddhist rituals, chanting, ordination and so on. 

In front of the Abbot Hall, Newly-precepted monastics devoutly invited 33 ritual masters to the precept place under guest prefect’ s guidance on April 5.

The newly-precepted monastics welcomed the Great Monk Yongxin to mount the platform to give a dharma teaching. And then the Great Monk gave the incense board to all ritual masters and order masters.

The Grand Three Platforms Precepts Transmission Ceremony in China Songshan Shaolin Temple hereto was launched. Process arrangement, reciting, mounting platforms and other Buddhist rituals would be conducted solemnly and orderly according to the schedule in the precept month.
